i live in a box of paints
Well, not really. I live in Denver.
Whether it’s donut porn or a reflective swimming pool, my art aims to capture ephemeral moments, allowing viewers to connect vicariously with what triggers positive emotions and memories.
The act of 'making' is almost more important (and sustaining) than my finished product. What I make usually ends up depicting something that brings me joy and peace. Creating pleasing aesthetics through patterns, light, and colors actually seems to calm my often anxious brain and neuroses.
I spent years working in the travel industry, so it isn't hard to feel inspired by beautiful places, colors, and fond memories of well-spent time in sentimental places. Creating views of faraway places is about as close to time traveling as I’ve been able to get.
I also love to work closely with clients to create custom art that is meaningful to them, be it a wedding invitation or an oil painting. I also love to make people laugh by naming my pieces with sarcasm or snarky social commentary.
In my work, I aim to commemorate people, places, and things that allow for escape - if only for a moment - to a mental space of warmth and well-being.
At least, I hope. 😘
